Current Students: Scholarships
Delbridge Narron Travel Scholarship $1,000.00 This fund supports study outside of the United States for a currently enrolled UNC Charlotte student. Students are preferred who enroll in a formal study abroad program where college credit is earned; however, this is not a requirement for the use of this scholarship. The nominee must be a current UHP student who has completed six credit hours of UHP courses. The scholarship recipient will be announced in April, and travel must begin in the following calendar year (e.g. April 2009 to April, 2010). Application Process In Spring semester, University Honors Program (UHP) students and faculty are invited to nominate a UHP student enrolled at UNC Charlotte for the Delbridge Narron Travel Scholarship. Students may nominate themselves (preferred). Nominations should not exceed 600 words. Please include the place for study and goals for study, the semester planned for study, and any other evidence that describes the nominee’s motivation for study abroad (where, what, why). All nominations must include the student’s full name and Banner number. Hardcopies or FAX of the nomination is due to the Honors College Office, Cato 317 by March 17, 2009 in a sealed envelope addressed to “Delbridge Narron Travel Scholarship.” Selection Process All nominations will be reviewed by committee. If necessary, finalists will be called for an interview. Delbridge Narron Scholarship $1,000.00 This fund is established to recognize a rising UHP Junior or Senior who most demonstrates the values and purpose of the University Honors Program. Criteria The recipient is a full-time student currently enrolled at UNC Charlotte and a member of the University Honors Program. The recipient is a rising junior or senior by the Fall semester. The recipient must present evidence of character as demonstrated through his or her involvement in community service work or reasonably similar extracurricular activity. The recipient must present evidence of a commitment to learning, an open mind, and an acceptance of diverse cultures, genders, and sexual orientations. Financial need may be taken in to consideration, but is not a requirement for eligibility. Previous winners of this scholarship may be eligible in the consecutive year.
