Christopher BurrowsGraduated: 2002 Major: Political Science Currently: Licensed Charter Boat Captain
Since graduation in 2002 with a degree in Political Science, my life has been more or less dedicated to chasing fish. I spent the better part of a year chasing juvenile delinquents around in the woods at a wilderness therapy camp, then moved to Charleston, SC in an attempt to turn my passion for fishing into a career, or more accurately, a means to extract as much enjoyment as possible out of my (relative) youth. After several seasons as a charter boat mate out of Georgetown, SC, I relocated to Ocean Isle Beach, NC in early 2006 and shortly thereafter, became a licensed captain. I have been there ever since. When I am not fishing, I am either writing or working in the tackle store at the Ocean Isle Fishing Center, where the charter boats I run are based out of. I am a contributor to "Sport Fishing" magazine, the Wilmington Morning Star, and www.oifc.com. There are a few larger writing projects I am engaged in, but I'm not ready to jinx it or give anything away quite yet. I can say for certain that without my experience in UNC-Charlotte's Honor's Program, the writing I am engaged in would not be an aspect of my life. As far as favorite memories from Honors, two come immediately to mind. There was one day of the "Charleston, To Learn A Place" class where our desks were arranged in a circle. For some reason, that never happened again. Those who can remember that day will certainly also remember why that was a one time occurence. Also, the party at Poplar Hall that followed the Honors Awards dinner from Spring 2002 was unforgettable. I need say no more.
